My dd2 was born in 12 minutes! I reached the delivery room at 2.08am, she was out by 2.20am! (my dh did actually think she was going to pop out in the car, and went over roundabouts and round traffic to get me there!!)

ds - 73 hours.
DD - 20 minutes!

howlidaymum · 23/10/2006 13:51

Was told with dd that I wasn't in labour so was put on a ward overnight as was being induced the next day. Felt very strange at 1am called nurse who found I was ready to drop, rushed me to delivery suite on the bed and gave birth 1.08am so 8 mins on record, 4 pushes!

izzybiz · 23/10/2006 15:07

With Ds, had show at 7am xmas day, regular pains from then on. He was born 27th, at 2.47am.

With Dd was induced by ARM, 2hours and 20 mins later she was born. She hurt MUCH more though!

CarolinaMooncup · 23/10/2006 15:12

52 hours of contractions with ds - inc 17 hours 'active labour' in hospital, going from 4cm to 9.5cm, half of that with the aid of syntocinon after being stuck at 6cm for 4 hours.

Followed of course by an emergency caesarean .

God, I was knackered.

mamalocco · 23/10/2006 15:46

DD1 - 1 hr 45 mins
DS1 - 2 hr 45 mins
DD2 - 1 hr 45 mins

all figures from first contraction to holding baby. Only made it to the hospital with any time to spare with the last one.

ludaloo · 23/10/2006 15:49

ds1 - 59 hrs from start to finish, only the last 12 hrs very painful tho lol
ds2 - 6 and a half hrs from start to finish
ds3 - around 8 hrs

pinkmagic1 · 27/10/2006 10:36

50 hours from the first painfull contraction!
Number 2 due in just over a week and am hopeing for one of these 20 minute jobs you hear about!

yellowpoo · 27/10/2006 20:16

On paper 4 hrs, for real about six, overdue and induced so I guess i had a head start.

harpsichordcarrion · 27/10/2006 20:27

two days and nights of painful contractions
but I did manage a trip to tumbletots and a quick shop in Budgens, so maybe it wasn't full blown labour

Kidstrack · 27/10/2006 20:28

full 24hrs with constant contractions started 3mins apart

blobsmummy · 27/10/2006 21:03

From first contraction, 15hours and 15 minutes.

My mum only took 30 minutes to have me though (from start to finish) and 12 minutes to have me sister!

TiggernPooh2 · 27/10/2006 21:36

painful continuous contractions for 46 hours.

after 40 hours only 3cm dilated. apparently although my contractions were strong they were not doing a very good job!!!! thanks midwife lol.

had ocitocin (sp?) drip and they broke my waters and went from 3cm to 9cm in 3 hours but the little monkey did not want to come out so after 2 hours pushing and a failed ventouse he was eventually pulled out with foreceps on the third and final time of trying.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 27/10/2006 21:40

not me i'm sure.
ds1: contractions start on thursday 11am. boo arrives on sunday morn, 06.29am
ds2: contractions start sat evening, 8pm , boo comes at 12.45am sunday morn.

spose ds1 was a long one but not the longest i'm sure.

Snowstorm · 27/10/2006 21:43

DD1: 8.5 hours
DD2: 2 hours 40 minutes

(from first pain of any sort to baby out)

CorpseBride · 27/10/2006 22:28

DD2 was under an hour and only 3 pushes.

But I know a fair few that were quicker - including an unassisted breach birth so in this neighbourhood, it's she who wears the crown!!!

Loshad · 27/10/2006 22:32

All times from first contraction
DS1 - 3 hours (inc 90 mins of pushing - wish someone had said earlier just think you're having a giant cr**)
DS2 - 90 mins - just got my knickers off in time as we reached hospital.
DS3 - 60 mins (at home)
DS4 - a whopping 3 hours - very miffed but during the day so was distracted by DS1,2 and 3 outside the door

nikkie · 27/10/2006 22:52

43 hours of contractions then emergency section (worst of both worlds?)

slaughterfalls · 27/10/2006 22:57

Did'nt believe I was in labour (neither did the midwives) until I was given an eternal and told I was 7cm dilated, I was having twins, and they were born within 2 hrs from that moment, dt1 was born vaginally, and dt2 by emergency c section just 12 minute later.

Is that a record, to give birth and have a c section within 12 minutes

mamamaaargh · 28/10/2006 03:49

A friend just told me that she was in hospital being induced for 3 days and nothing was happening (we're in the States where that doesn't seem to be as uncommon as you;d hope). When she eventually went into labour, she was there for 20 hours before being rushed for an emergency c-section .

hulababy · 28/10/2006 21:46

Not longest I know, but still tooka while. 50 hours of induction, before a c section. Since found out that it would have been very unlikely I would have ever dilated beyond what I did (2cm) either naturaly or via induction - so c section eas inevtable.

Beakysmum · 01/11/2006 21:33

Could i ask how you knew you would never have dilated beyond 2cm?
Don't answer if you'd rather not!!!

MKG · 01/11/2006 22:05

Was induced with pitocin at 8am, at 1pm started feeling contractions, at 5pm was 4 cm, at 6pm was 10cm, ds was born at 8:12pm.

largewhizzingrocketandtonic · 01/11/2006 22:09

dts waters breaking to emrgency section 30mins
dd 15hrs
ds 9hrs
ds 40mins!
Next one due in may and im hoping it will be a bit longer than 40mins

plibble · 01/11/2006 22:55

Not me. 17 hours of 1st stage labour (about 8 of which were painful), 13 hours of active labour (8 of which with lovely epidural), 1 1/2 hours of pushing and... emerg c/s!

Seemed bad at the time, but there's an awful lot worse on this thread...
