I've just been reading a letter from the hospital where I gave birth to my GP. It says that my baby was in the "LOT position". What does this mean?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

SPACEdoutzombieCADET · 18/10/2006 21:37

Left Occiput Transverse.

Plibble · 18/10/2006 21:37

Holy cow! That explains the pain.

lol

Left Occipital......T ummmmm.

I think it means he/she was head down with its back to the left.
Not sure about the T though. I know A is anterior and P is posterior or back to back. Have no idea what T could stand for.

LOL at giving birth to GP though!!

Check your NHS Pregancy and Birth Book - the one with the woman in the nice comfy looking purple maternity dress - that you can't find anywhere!

I saw a load of position diagram and terms when I was looking through it the other night!

given birth to your gp made me laugh out loud and first time a thread ever has... thank you xxx

nebthenoob · 18/10/2006 22:00

Hauntymandy - that link has really put me off having any more kids. I don't think of them coming out sideways....

Thanks, though - I had LOT on my notes too once and never understood it (closely followed by emergency cs...)

hauntymandy · 18/10/2006 22:13

seeing the link after is better than before!!!

Plibble · 18/10/2006 22:30

Next time I hear anyone saying that women are designed to give birth I am going to direct them to that site. I've never winced and laughed at the same time before!

Pmsl at gave birth to your gp, probably my hormones but really gave me the giggles! Talking of the pregnancy and birth book is it just mine (over 6 years old now) or are there several paragraphs throughout that just stop mid sentence?
