I am thinking of trying cumin tea this time, I know three women this has worked for.

harpsichordcarrion · 18/10/2006 21:49

no such thing
when you're ready, you're ready
but sex might pass the time

nebthenoob · 18/10/2006 21:50

Fear of being forced into elective cs.. (worked for dd3).

If pineapple did the trick I would constantly be in labour.

mmmmchocolate · 18/10/2006 21:50

Trouble is i don't drive so if things are need i have to reply on others and feel silly asking for all these bits.

Gonna try all the ones tonight if i can if not tomorrow.....

One of the oddest ones I have heard, is blowing up balloons, apparently creates internal pressure.

Beauregard · 18/10/2006 21:54

Look if you wanna shift that baby here is your itenary:Diy orgasm, followed by a walk probably of about a mile in distance and preferably with a bursting bladder, return home and sit with a cup of raspberry leaf tea,Toilet visit,Diy orgasm, cup of cumin tea,diy orgasm, chocolate, send dp out for a curry whilst you diy orgasm ,then cuppa and more chocolate, diy orgasm ,warm bath and Relax

Are you due? overdue? A good reflexologist should be able to help, but they have more success if you have a series of treatments leading up to your due date. Its not quite like having a press to eject point on the bottom of your foot. It is very pleasant and relaxing though.

Raspberry leaf tea is good for toning your uterine muscles, not really as a trigger for labour, though as I understand it.

5 days over.....

I tried everything but eventually went into labour at term + 11 after a session of accupunture and an hour and half of nipple twiddling. Who knows if that did it, maybe she was just ready to come.

purpleluce · 19/10/2006 19:41

I tried everything with first but went over by a week so kind of think it happens when it is ready. Having said that, the things that may have helped (it did go v quickly and smoothly when things kicked in!) were

homeopathic remedy caulophyllum 200c - need that doesage from homeopathideally
Reflexology - did have a course
and apologies in advance for oversharing..
DIY sweep using a vibrator and capsules of evening primrose oil (apparently the active ingredient is also prostaglandin or similar which is the same theory as semen.

Good luck - I remember it being the longest week ever but I did eventually go into labour (after the above but don't know it was cause and effect) and all went well

Toady · 19/10/2006 20:19

everything everybody else said and also err hum {whispers} oral sex, your DH will be happy

lulumama · 19/10/2006 20:21

yes toady...apparently, the prostoglandins can be more effective when taken orally....although i think a man started that idea!!!

prettymummified · 19/10/2006 20:27

sex worked with dd, set my contractions off straightaway!!! she came 3 days before due date

but didnt with ds, nothing worked!!! he was 5 days late

Alibobster · 19/10/2006 21:35

Afraid not, tried everything, sex, curry, raspberry leaf tea, walking up and down stairs, driving over bumpy roads. Had 3 membrane sweeps and my wee one still wasn't for moving. Eventually arrived 15 days late. Obviously too cosy where he was. I think they just come when they feel ready

nolembit · 19/10/2006 22:50

I was advised by a Dr that you have to have sex at least 3 times in close succession for there to be enough prostaglandins to induce labour.

80sMum · 19/10/2006 22:54

A strong laxative? Or is that the same as having a curry?

lulumama · 19/10/2006 22:58

eeeek...not a laxative & especially not castor oil...you will have horrific stomach pains and if you do go into labour ,will end up sitting on the loo pooing for britain,,the body tends to have a natural clear out before labour quite often.,..
