Booking at the Lindo wing

Hello all, first time mum here, currently 20 weeks and new to everything. I have basically decided to go private at the lindo wing and have managed to find a consultant that would take me on from 30 weeks, but due to various reason ... There seems to be some reluctance to actually book me with lindo wing itself before my first appointment which is at 30 weeks.

I am kind of stressed out that would be leaving it too late and all the beds at lindo might be booked up by then .... Hence just wondering if anyone has any experience of switch to the lindo wing at a quite late stage? Did any one manage to find a consultant that had availability but failed to get a booking at the lindo?

Quite anxious, not sure if I should stick to my consultant (who is seems to be very popular) or find a consultant that is willing to book me at the lindo now?

Many thanks for your help in advance!

Who is reluctant? The Lindo itself or your consultant? I transferred to the Lindo at 37 weeks with no problems. The booking was handled by my consultant's secretary as part of transferring to the Lindo from the NHS. I would imagine they want to do the two together - have you see the consultant and then book you in.

It was only half full when I was there. I would ring your consultant's secretary and ask how works. If they can't reassure you that you'll be booked in at 30 weeks then maybe look around for someone or somewhere else.

Hello! Reality is this will depend on availability when you book. I booked the lindo before consultant - all before 12 weeks though. You could be fine but may be not. I'd also watch when the duchess is due in case she returns there. If you're willing to pay relevant deposits, I'd just ring the wing and consultant secretary stating your wishes. You shouldnt have this stress at all. You are paying - you are in charge.

This might sound daft but could they be security conscious until they've had your first appointment? The Duchess of Cambridge is also 20 weeks and had George there so assuming she would go back would be due the same week....

It is the consultant that is reluctant to book me before he sees me (I have been talking with his secretary and that is what she has told me). He would only book me in when he sees me at 30 weeks (my first appointment with him will be at the beginning of April - which is when I officially come under his care).

I am due mid June so shouldn't really clash with Duchess of Cambridge ( she is due in April I think)

I am happy to pay deposits for both the consultant and the hospital well in advance, but I guess from the consultant's perspective it is a more of a duty of care kind of thing (I think ...)

I called the lindo wing before and they said that bookings must be made through the consultants, didn't realise that one can book directly with them ... I will give them an another call ...
