membrane sweep

I'm 3 days overdue and am having my second membrane sweep this afternoon. I had my first on Wednesday. Has anybody had any positive experiences of going into labour after a sweep. I'm due to be induced on Wednesday and am very keen to avoid it if possible.

Thanks everybody for all your positive comments. I did see midwive this afternoon - she was appalled that I was being induced because of age and gave me some tips on how I could avoid intervention. I think I will follow her advice and if by Tuesday afternoon things are not happening I will ring and put my induction back by a few days. She did tell me that a sweep couldn;t be performed in any case as she couldn't reach where she needed to, although she said she could try and stretch the cervix a bit. It makes me wonder why the doctor I saw on Wednesday told me she had performed a sweep - how could she have done if today it was not possible.

I do feel more positive now about sticking to my guns - they can hardly drag me in kicking and screaming on Wednesday if I decide against induction.

I had a sweep when i was 1 wk overdue- i got so wound up over it that i put my blood pressure up and they were telling me i'd have to get induced that next day if it didn't go down (it went down very quickly once it was over!) I went into labour at home that same day.
