Transverse baby

Hi
I'm 41 weeks and the baby is transverse so I have a scheduled c-section for Monday. Has anyone had a transverse baby turn this late and gone on to have a natural birth? Terrified of c-section and recovery.
Please send positive turning vibes

Hi,
no personal experience, sorry, but thought this might help:
radical m/w's about tranverse Baby

No personal experience, but a friend of mine had a baby which was breech till 39 weeks, went in for a c-section all mentally prepared for it and they scanned her beforehand and found it had turned! She was actually disappointed as she had psyched herself up for the c-section, but had to wait for a few more days to go into labour naturally.

If it doesn't happen (which I guess is more likely), please don't have sleepless nights about a c-section. I had one and it was absolutely fine, totally painless and even quite enjoyable! Recovery is very variable, some women take days and others weeks or months, but elective recoveries are much better than emergencies so you will have a head start there.

hi - never heard of transverse baby turning i'm afraid - might be a bit late to try , but could try some of the tips on the radical midwives site as 3andnomore suggested....i'd give anything a go!!

some women have reported success ( anecdotally) of asking their breech babies to turn and they have....you could try this! i know pulsatilla can encourage breech babies to turn , so maybe worth a go.....you have 48 hours, so get cracking.....

sending turning vibes {smile] is this your first baby?

Thanks for replying. This is my first baby and I spent most of the pregnancy psyching myself up for a natural birth but the LO doesn't want to cooperate. A c-section is a major thing but I suppose it has its benefits.
At the end of the day as long as it's healthy it doesn't matter how it comes into the world. Still hoping for it to turn though and am trying everything to encourage it.

dd was transverse and turned at 36 weeks, which surprised a lot of people so...I suspect its not very likely, sorry.
I too had psyched myself up for a natural delivery (and fought OB on it, even) so was disappointed initially when dd disengaged again at 39 weeks and turned back: but my section was fine - positive experience, and just as amazing to me as any other sort of birth would have been. Very calm, very happy. Recovery for me was complicated by bp issues and an infection (my own fault, I overdid things and bust some stitches - didn't hurt, but did mean took longer to heal) so its hard for me to comment on a normal recovery but...I was never in a lot of pain, not for a minute. And looking after my dd from the start.

Good luck, hope things go the way you'd like or even better!

My foruth was transverse - but I think my three previous whoppers had left my uterine muscles a little lax (to say the least!)I had a cs in the end. A friend with the same problem had a vb, her baby turned in the last few hours before established labour began. When you sit, keep your legs wide, tilt your pelvis a nd sit at the front of the chair, keeping your back straight and your weight slightly forward, don't slouch on the sofa (although that's probably all you feel like doing). Hope he turns for you, if not , don't panic, the cs will be fine, Am sending positive vibes for you. Good Luck. Will look out for you on Birth announcements next week!

Hi
Thanks again for the positive turning vibes and messages of support. Baby didn't turn though and decided that she didn't want to wait until Monday! Managed to get to the hospital in time for an epidural (so glad it wasn't general) and she arrived with no complications on Sunday morning. (She didn't turn because she had the cord wrapped twice around her head).
Healing well after the op and baby Anya's an angel. The c-section wasn't a walk in the park but is now a distant memory
Happy mum and baby.

Congratulations! I was just about to give you my story but I don't need to now. I'm so glad everything has worked out and that Anya is doing well.

Congrats again.

EliBoo · 20/10/2006 17:09

Congratulations! I'm glad she's safe (agree, Anya is a lovely name) and you are too - wishing you both well.
