I had an EMCS with dd, so I'm aware of what to expect to some degree, but DS is arriving via ELCS in January and I'm interested in any tips for aiding recovery (as I'll have dd to look after!). I've read that taking arnica, and eating a big carby meal the night before, can aid recovery - any experience? TIA.

Arnica before and after is supposed to be good and to drink peppermint tea to aid the wind pain.

Take your painkillers regularly at first, don't wait for the pain to start.

Eat lots of fruit, don't let yourself get constipated.

Good luck.

This cot....I wish I had for my first too....brilliant, no twisting or streching or faild transfers....baby is right next to you but you can flop out and relax in sleep knowing they are safely in their part. brilliant cot...best piece of money ever spent on baby equipment.

full total rest for two weeks. no heavey lifitng or any work....light walks when feel ready.

air scar, lie flat on bed and let air get to it...

lots f ruit, syrpup of figs only thing worked for me....

something for wind, i never got but people had got it bad...

v pillow, rest baby on, protects wound, very useful in bed, and in hospital, i slept with baby wedged on it, to my side with my arm round...also changed her on it, she never went in bed side crib.

rememeber when you have a new baby your tired, a co sleeper cot, any kind will help you sleep, help baby sleep, and you wont have that trying to sit up at night.

I bought a pick up stick from Amazon- the type you see cleaners using to puck up rubbish from the floor. Very useful as I could pick things up without leaning over, and also good for extended reaching whilst breastfeeding.
