hospitals and birth centre around Beaconsfield,south bucks

I live in Beaconsfield , 32yr old and 9wks pregnant with my first baby, a bit nervous. I was contacted by my widwife first time last week and she asked me about my choice of hospital. She gave me three suggestions: Aylesbury ,Slough and Oxford.

After some online research , I was a bit confused as it seem I should have a lot more options including some hospitals in Oxbridge and Harrow. Also, I am not sure how I should choose a hospital/birth centr, I have read some info on NHS and som other website, it still seem hard to tell.

Would be very grateful if anyone live around Beaconsfield/south Bucks can share thier experience and give me some advice/suggestion.

I am meeting the midwife two days later and need to let her know my decision then.

Think you mean Uxbridge not Oxbridge , I know that Wexham Park (Slough) has not had a great reputation, but that may have changed now. I would recommend going for proximity as a long journey in labour would not be fun! On that basis what about High Wycombe? Sorry can't actually give recommendation on these as I gave birth elsewhere. Main thing is don't panic, you will be absolutely fine and congratulations on your pregnancy.

Also, you need to tell them where now but you CAN change it later.

Hi there, I have a close friend who lives in Beaconsfield and after a lot of research they chose the birth centre (midwife led) at Stoke Mandeville. They said it was great and it's also attached to the main delivery suite in the hospital should anything go wrong, or if you really want an epidural etc!

By far your closest unit is the MLU at High Wycombe so I'm surprised that your MW didn't suggest it, unless you are high risk? You can book in there if you are low risk but if you needed any form of further interventions then you would be transferred to Stoke Mandeville - another option to look at.

Think very carefully about journey times for when you are in labour!
