Gentle cesarean

Has anyone requested a gentle cesarean? Or more specifically had one at Bristol Southmead?
I will be having an ELCS fo DC2, and can imagine them looking at me like a weirdo if I ask for the lights to be dimmed, quiet voices, watching the procedure etc!
Any experience?
Thanks

My nct tutor has been really positive about the fact that I'm having an ELCS (breech baby). She's actually made me feel much better about it.

I've also been told by both consultant and mw that skin to skin is fine, and that if I would like a mirror so that I can see the baby being hoiked out I can (as opposed to dropping the drape). Not sure whether they will agree to delayed cord clamping though as I forgot to ask.

My nct teacher really helped when I had to have a csection. Her explanation and role play of who everyone was in the theatre really helped.

The main difference between a natural birth and a csection is that although both should be patient focused, the key person in the room is the surgeon (& anaesthetist). They need to have everything perfect for them to operate well, as everything depends on them to keep you and your baby safe. It's about optimum conditions for them.

This shouldn't clash with your needs though, and they should bever treat you as a passive object to be operated on or anything... it's just if they do an excellent job, you'll have a good experience.

I had 2 great c sections. One emergency, 1 elective.

The elective was so calm. I had music, and that's about all I remember.

The whole thing was so professional.

I have NO birth story to tell though Hmm
