can ELCS cause stretch marks?

Prior to elective c-section I had NO stretch marks on my tummy. After the operation I noticed I have three, above c-section scar.

Has this happened to anyone else? Can the force of tugging/pulling used during c-section cause stretch marks?

Didn't happen to me. Sorry

I don't think so. maybe they were there before but faint and you didn't see them? or stretch marks are caused by rapid weight gain/loss so maybe it was down to rapid weight loss after birth x

I did think that too!

By the last few weeks I had a couple of them lower down but post-CS I noticed so many more.

I was certain I'd checked myself out from all angles and only had a few...afterwards it seemed like I had a lot.

Tho I really don't think it would've been caused by the actual surgery.
Also, the weight seemed to take ages to come off so I can't really blame it on that!

No. The stretch marks were caused by your pregnancy.

I developed stretch marks in my pregnancies, but they became really obvious only after I had given birth. Partly that was because I could not see them under my bump (yes, I also used a torch and two mirrors), but dh said that he had seen the ones I had not been able to see (he hadn't mentioned them so as not to upset me - bless) and there were definitely new ones after the birth.

IIRC the newer ones changed colour after the births, being much redder than the older, silvery ones.

Thanks, this pregnancy/having a baby/looking after a baby malarkey is an education!!
