csection date?

Next week is my 36 week consultant appointment. I have seen senior midwives etc a few weeks ago as i requested a section- after discussing it she reluctantly agreed and booked me this 36 week appointment
Does anyone know what will happen? Will my c-section get booked there and then or will I have to wait for a letter etc?

Also i was wondering if your allowed to pick a date, im due on a sunday and the midwife said they like to do them as close to 39 weeks. So would they do it on the monday at 39+1? Im really hoping for the Friday where I would be 38+5 - baby is measuring a good size (6lb 1 at 34 week scan) so i dont think there would be any major problems ?
also posted in pregnancy wasnt sure where to ask!

Each hospital has its own policy but generally they will leave it as late as possible, usually 39+. Planned c-s most likely would not be done on a Sunday. They will vaguely say something like, oh planned c-s are done on either Tuesdays or Thursdays. and Thursday that week is already booked up so Tuesday it is. They never guarantee the date though, as you might get bumped by an emergency c-s.

My hospital do ELCS mon to fri, and for maternal request no earlier than 39/40 due to earlier potentially causing breathing difficulties for baby.

This appt will be a discussion with consultant, they may still not agree to it. If they do, probably booked there and then for 39+1 at the earliest. Medical need for elective cs takes priority

They should book it then for you I think, I'm sure mine was booked at 36/37 weeks.
I think you may struggle to persuade them to book you for the Fri before. I was due on a Sunday and my trust did ELCS Mon - Fri but in my 39 week they were fully booked until I'd have been 39+5. I had a medical condition that meant going into labour would have posed a significant risk but I still had to really fight to get booked in at 38+5 instead. It seemed ludicrous that they would have delivered 2 days later if it was a week day, and if I had a natural labour at that stage no one would have batted an eyelid. Good luck, hope everything goes well for you.

They will try and put you in after 39 weeks as that's whats recommended now (and if they put you in at 38+5 this will affect their stats...)

To be perfectly honest with you, you are better off going for the Monday anyway, as they will be better staffed on the ward during the week than the weekend. It sounds ridiculous to think about it like that, but unfortunately that's the reality.
