Ok so recently i had a daughter but she decided she was coming foot first so had to go in hospital for an emergancy c section but during the section my womb ripped into my main artery the surgens sowed me up and all was well untill an hour or so later i start feeling poorly only for this to go on for some hours with me getting worse and worse, so it turns out the surgen didnt sow my artery up properly and im bleeding internally, they didnt pick up on this for well over 12 hours and i ended up in intensive care on a ventalator for a few days aswell has having a rather large blood transfusion, now i want to no if its worth getting in contact with a solicitor to put a complaint in against a certain doc who didnt do his job right?

A complaint is different to taking legal action. Do you want financial compensation or for someone to acknowledge a mistake was made?

Compensation would b helpful but more for someone to acknowledge the mistakes

I would approach the hospital first. Most have a patient liason department. You should be offered an appointment to put forward your concerns and talk through the birth. Have a look at their website. If you feel that you want to take it further then speak to a solicitor to discuss it, even if you take it no further after that at least you won be wondering 'what if'.

The hospital are doing an external investigation into it and my partner also put a complaint in against one doc on the night it happend but we havent heard anything yet and its been a month now?

Get back in contact with them. Day you msde a complaint on x date and would like to know when you van ecpect to hear from them, either with a result, or with more questions. Who should you hear from? And who should you contact if you dont hear anything?

I'm sorry you had such a horrible time, I hope you and your DD are doing well now.

Certainly pursuing this through PALS may help you get some closure, but I'm not sure you should be too optimistic about a compensation claim. Bleeding is a recognised post-op complication even if a vessel is repaired well, so in order to have a claim, you would have to prove that the surgeon used a faulty technique, rather than doing a decent repair and having an unfortunate complication. You could also ask why there was such a delay in recognising the problem and taking further action, but again you'd have to prove that it could have been reasonably recognised earlier and that doing something sooner would have made a tangible difference.

Nevertheless, you should hear from them soon, so it can't hurt to get in touch and ask for a progress update.
