Was 2nd labour faster if first was a c-section?

my first labour ended in an emergency c - section after 3 days of labour..

I got to 10cms with augmentation and I'm wondering if my 2nd labour will be quicker, even though I couldn't push the first one out...

So for those that VBACed was you 2nd labour faster?

Yes - first labour was 30 hours active labour (4cms till birth). I was induced for this and had twins - one delivered normally and second by c-section. I had an epidural and actual pushing stage was 3 hours long because I couldn't feel anything.

Second was 4.5 hours active labour. Went into labour naturally and had gas and air and pethadine.

So yes - my second was a lot quicker !!

I haven't had a VB (yet!) although am considering a VBA2C. My consultant has assured me that it's the getting to 10cm part that counts (like you I got to fully dilated, albeit with the help of syntocinon), and that although there are no guarantees, this should make my next labour easier. He said that from a labouring point of view, it doesn't really matter that ultimately I had a c-section (obviously the same issue may arise when it actually comes to pushing the baby out, though!).

Agree, my midwife said that the fact you have laboured once already should make for a quicker birth second time around, even though you didn't do the pushing bit.

Unfortunately for me, I never even had so much as a twinge last time & had an elcs, so I have the joy of the equivalent of a first birth to look forward to! Eek!

Omama, I had an ELCS for breech the first time. Had a VBAC last Monday 2hrs 15mins labour. Took everyone by surprise.

These a good to hear that it hopefully should be faster..

2.5 days from waters breaking [immediate start to labour] to EMCS; then about 12 hours from waters breaking to delivery. Went from twinges to full blown contractions in the space of about 30 mins while I ran around trying to sort out care for DD1, pack a hospital bag etc etc etc. Only when I got to the hospital carpark did I realise that they were 3 mins apart.

DH was a bit WTF and er - didn't you think to mention it?

I had a 60 labour with DS. transferred to hospital when my waters had been broken for over 24h (had been fully dilated several hours at this point). I was having strong regular contractions and syntocin did nothing to augment so c-section due to no more options...
DS had to pushed up out of my pelvis as he was wedged solid :O
am hoping that there is a lot in these stories; I have also been told that labouring until fully dilated is what counts, and that they will sweep early to attempt to facilitate VBAC. They do not want prolonged VBAC labours due to risk of rupture!

First baby was in hospital about 6pm then had an emergency section after getting to 10cm and starting to push when they noticed baby was breech !Baby born at 830pm
Second baby was VBAC ,waters broke about 1pm ,baby delivered at 3pm ! so yes quicker by about half an hour !
