Homebirth then changing your mind halfway?

Anyone done this? I'd like to at least give being at home a good go with a pool and gas and air but I like the idea that if I can't cope I can go in for an Confusedpidural. Hospital is less than a mile from where I live. Any experiences or thoughts?

yeh, no probs - you could go in if you go off the plan! The only prob might be if you decide too late. the mw's would rather you stayed where you were than delivered in the car/ambulance - but if only a mile away shouldn't be too tricky to whizz in!

I've had 3 hb's and it was great - being able to get into your own bed is soo luxurious!

You can change your mind at any time if you plan a homebirth, it's ine of the things that makes it a complete no-brainer for me. It's much harder to change your mind in the other direction, iyswim.

The vast majority (something like 80% iirc?) of transfers are for pain relief.

I've had both my babies at home, and I think it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
