I'm 37+3 and came into hosp with reduced fetal movements. Doc has decided to induce me overnight. I know it's the right thing as once baby is here can make sure he's safe, but I'm terrified of induction. Does anyone have any reassurance? I had a v quick labour with my daughter and am worried the induction will be so quick my husband will miss the baby being born.

You'll be fine Smile Induction isn't nearly as bad every says. I was induced, and had a good labour on just gas&air.

My obstetrician has just recommended an induction with #2 as well (quick labour with #1 with a few complications which had nothing to do with be induced).

They look after you well and the midwives promise my husband will get there on time!!

Whilst established labour can be quick with an induction, it can also take a long time to get to established labour, esp if the baby isn't really ready to be born. I had a 5 day long labour thread on here 6 years ago, due to an induction that didn't really go anywhere. When are you planning on asking your dh to come?

Try to stay calm. They will be careful because you have alerted them to the reduction in movements
Induction now should be ok. I know of inductions that have gone smoothly and quickly :)
They want your baby out and well. At 37 weeks your baby is likely to be well and go home with no issues. If the induction isn't taking and your baby isn't doing well then they can get the baby out really quickly.
You're in the best place :)

Missed the bit about speed! My friend who had quick natural labours was about 7 hours when induced.

My labour where I was induced was much easier than my other where I went naturally. It was very quick though, how far away is the hospital from your home?

I've had one induced and one spontaneous labour. There wasn't much to tell between them except that with the induction, I didn't have a bloody excruciating car journey to endure before I got to some decent pain relief!

Best of luck with it all.
