Mid wife led private birth options. HELP !

Hi,
I am 22 weeks pregnant right now and will be joining my husband in London from around 32-33 weeks. We live in the Ilford area.
I am not eligible for free NHS care and will have to pay anyway. So we are looking at private birth options.

I have a low risk pregnancy, this is my first and no previous history and I am 25. And consultant charges are too expensive.

Hence we are looking at mid wife led private birth.
Or is it rather better to go for NHS care itself and pay for it.

Can someone suggest good options ? If possible a rough estimate of the cost for both the above cases would help greatly too.
Thanks in advance

I have friends who've done mid-wife led at Chelsea & Westminster (Kensington Wing) and the Portland recently and they were really happy with how it went. Not sure about the C&W one, but the Portland friend was allocated a 'back up' Obstetrician who she met once or twice beforehand (in case he had to step in). He had to be within close range of the hospital at all times from 37 (38?) weeks.

As a guide, this is the cost of going mid-wife led at C&W: £6,900 (includes first night stay). If you end up having an emergency c-section is goes up to £8,000. Additional nights are about £900 per night.

Also, you need to factor in the cost of an epidural, if you elect for one (£500ish), plus the cost of private scans and blood tests. And enquire what happens if you/your baby need special care or a long-term stay - would you get transferred to the NHS? Otherwise it could be very pricey!

Good luck!
