Could I have some lovely ELCS stories please?

I am trying to decide between VBAC and ELCS, at the moment leaning towards ELCS, but aware this is not best for baby.
Can I have some positive stories please? Breastfeeding went ok, great recoveries, coped fine with older child (I have a two year old DS), bonded with new baby no problems etc etc.......

Thank you

So glad I found this thread. Am having ELCS for breech DS2 on Tuesday and, after a straightforward VB for DS1, am trying to be positive about it as it is so not what I was hoping for.

These stories are so comforting.

I've had 2 c sections..One emergency and one planned..I'm currently in my 3rd pregnancy and have opted for my 3rd c section..I'm a bit nervous but my 2nd c section was lovely and recovery was easier and quicker..really looking forward to meeting our little one in 4 weeks! X

I have had

-2 normal births (both VBACs-one with shoulder dystocia),
-1 emergency c section (deep transverse arrest)
-1 crash c section (cord prolapse) and had massive post c section hemorrhage (3+ litres) and further surgery
-and 1 elective section with no complications at all.

I think my complications with 1 section were down to the extreme rush of the crash section as cord prolapse is very life threatening to the baby.

My elective section was brilliant. Only 2 nights in hospital, bonded straight away, breastfed for 11 months, managed with my 4 older children and doing school runs from about 2 weeks after (DH had 2 weeks off). I first did school run after 10 days.

My elective was every bit as magical as a normal birth, first cry, first hold etc. Also I was less panicky that things would go wrong (I have a history of severe complications) as it was planned.

I'm back post-section!

So, I ended up waiting a long time as emergencies came in and, on hour five of waiting, my waters broke! I had painful contractions very quickly so got rushed in. Lost the plot a bit and got all teary and upset about the spinal (very frightened). Wonderful anaesthetist and head nurse distracted me and talked me down and got it done in minutes. It worked like a dream and I felt nothing.

Lots of rummaging and DS2 was born pretty quickly.

He was taken off for the usual checks and DH got to hold him as there was no room on my chest for him.

I got him as soon as they were done stitching me up and he was on boob an hour after I left theatre. DS1 and my mum came to visit in recovery with dinner so we all ate together, which was really lovely.

Catheter out next morning, was up that morning, and was home on the Thursday night from surgery on the Tuesday afternoon.

Feel far better than I thought I would and, although I didn't like the surgery, it was nowhere near as bad as I'd feared and it was all worth it to get DS2 out safely.
