Can older sibling sense labour

I'm 38+3 and have a 16month old (it's going to be a busy house!) but this last 2 days DD1 has been really clingy, is waking through the night, reluctant to go for her naps, and will only settle with me.......normally very much a daddies girl.

Has anyone else experienced this? Can't find much research - it's maybe just wishful thinking!!

I very much doubt it. But she can sense a change in atmosphere and understand more than you think of the chat going on around her.

Mind you, DD1 instructed DS out and he came that night. She can be quite bossy though!

Not sure about older siblings, but the cats went absolutely (very out-of character) bananas the morning of the day my mum went into labour with my youngest sibling!

When I was pregnant ,my 3 and a half year old went on about mummy having a baby in her belly without any prompting a week before I found out. So you never know BUT is probably wishful thinking (I know that feeling only too well ,lol ).

That's funny. I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow and have been getting pains on and off since Sunday. My two year old DD has been exactly the same all week - really clingy, more than usually affectionate, preferring me to her daddy when it's normally the other way round.

How odd!

Seems to be a little odd, esp as midwife mentioned she thought it would be unlikely to see my due date and DD1 has not been around when it's been discussed. Had back pain on and off the last few days too. Will be interesting to find out what next little while brings. Nothing so far has changed at home other than baby clothes in a drawer (but I did this when she was at nursery & bags packed and in a cupboard where she never goes also done when at nursery.... Time will tell. But it's interesting others have experienced something similar :)
