Oops pressed send too quickly!

Am due in 3 weeks and have a Homebirth planned.
Thinking it would be nice to have some relaxation music in the background, anyone got any recommendations of CDs?
Or is their such a thing of actual birthing music?
Thank you

When i was in labour at the hospital with my son, the midwife asked if id like a 'birthing cd' on so i said yes.

It sounded like whales and rainforests and all sorts, anyway when the midwife left i was polite but made my OH turn it right off as it got ok my nerves.

I suppose it depends on different people, in my labour i mainly wanted silence as i got quite irritated with fuss and noise lol.

We used the music we'd had during our wedding reception - it was a mix of songs we loved that played quietly during dinner.

It was a really random selection of bands we'd seen and old songs we loved. We hadn't played it in ages and it reminded us if our wedding and lovely times we'd had together. It was perfect to chat about in between contractions, and DD was born to one of our favourite songs. I know this makes me sound like a hippy, but honestly, it was lovely.

Thats beautiful Smile

Awwww anything that is beautiful - not hippy at all.

Good point about music irritating, last time round I wanted everyone to stop talking - even told the MW not to speak as she was putting me off Blush

I made a playlist of favourite laid-back tunes including REM, The Beatles, Lemon Jelly - it was a nice distraction between contractions (it wasn't on too loud), and was especially nice to listen to when I was getting stitched up. Wish I could remember what was playing when she was born, though!

We had a relaxing Irish pipes cd on which was ok but was on repeat and after a while really bugged me but I was in the zone so not communicating by then. I've never been able to listen to it since!
This time round, I plan on making a playlist of songs we all really like (will have DH and 16 and 11 year old dds) so that we can sing along a bit. I will def have it on shuffle though as I get annoyed hearing the same things on the same order. I'll also make sure my iPod is within reach so I can easily stop or skip if I stop liking it. Putting the playlist together will be a fun project with dds during mat leave / summer holidays.

I just did mine today although DS1 decided to play his own musical toys over the entire thing so will be hiding all those. Try find some low res music. Deep drone sounds are meant to help with the birth but find it in the style of music you like so it doesn't annoy you.
