Is it true that when you push, you leak forever down there as opposed to C-section?

no

onestepbeyond · 27/06/2014 17:40

No - that's what pelvic floor exercises are for.

Strokethefurrywall · 27/06/2014 17:42

Errrr, no.

Standinginline · 27/06/2014 17:43

No. Besides ,even if you have a c section the carrying the child upto that point can still affect your pelvic floor (which can cause you to leak ).

frogmore6 · 27/06/2014 18:55

OK-thanks, just had some silly women saying this back home in Atlanta.

I've had 2 c sections and never got as far as pushing. I leak all the time...

KleineDracheKokosnuss · 27/06/2014 19:00

I pushed and I don't leak :) Pelvic floor was a bit weak for a few weeks following DD's birth (til I recovered), and I had to work on the muscles in order to be able to do high impact exercise (which would cause leakage on a fair few people anyway!) but otherwise I've had no issues.

I pushed (and had a 3rd degree tear) but no leakage.

A friend had a C-sec and has had "some issues" in that regard.

So no, in short!

SpiffingGalore · 27/06/2014 19:09

I pushed, twice. The first time for two whole hours. No leakage here.

Bambamb · 27/06/2014 19:23

No of course not! It can happen, whether vaginal birth or c - section which is why it's good to do your pelvic floor exercises as much as poss.

SeatOfMyPants · 27/06/2014 21:26

Balance. I pushed: 2nd degree tear.
Did pelvic floor exercises (very fit, Pilates freak)

And leakage quite a lot of the time. In fact, most days I'm a bit soaked. Tried to get referred about it, but nothing came through re appointments. And it's not so bad that I can really be bothered to fight for the GP appointment and insist and take time out of the week (full time work. Rest of time with DS) but it does bother me, to the extent that if I ever have another I will push (ha!) for a cesarian on the basis of wanting some continence in my middle age.

fortheloveofmike · 27/06/2014 21:30

No.. ive had a c section and a vbac and im leak free!!

Wadingthroughsoup · 27/06/2014 21:39

I had two VBs and no leakage here. Unless I go on a trampoline.

findingherfeet · 27/06/2014 21:42

No!!

Itsfab · 27/06/2014 21:55

No, of course not. If it was true you would know about it.

I have given birth both ways and am fine.
