Bishops Score 9 - how long to wait?!

Just come out from a midwife appointment and feeling a little excited! She did an internal and I'm fully engaged, 3cm dilated with a bishops score of 9 (although she said "cervix is soft it's still a little long"!! So at least I know these annoying stop start contractions I've been having for days have actually been doing something useful.
My question is if you had a Bishops Score of 9 how soon after did your baby arrive??

How long is a piece of string?
Is this your first baby?

Maybe go for a nice dinner, have a relaxing bath, do something that makes you feel good. You'll meet your baby soon!

This is my second, just wondering if anyone could tell me their experiences following a similar bishops score.
I do know it's not an exact science, just interested to hear from others in the same boat

I've had two vaginal births and have never heard of a Bishop's Score.

Just give it time, baby will arrive when he/she is ready.

Please come back and update us :)

I had a pretty high score from about 39 weeks. I was 2cm at weeks, gave birth at 40 +10 or 12 (I can't quite remember)

The bishop score is how likely an induction would be rather then how close labour is to starting.

Hope things kick off soon.

Bishop score is how favourable your cervix is for labour and induction. Bishop score of 9 is quite good, very favourable for labour and induction if required. Unlikely to give you pessary/gel if needed IOL and more likely to go for breaking waters straight off.
Although two different midwives will give you different bishop scores, it's very subjective

I had a high bishops score at 40 weeks. However nothing happened until 40+8 when my waters broke. I didn't go into labour and was induced the next day.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Had a 'show' and lots of stop start contractions so just need things to get moving now. My due date today though I know it could be another 2 weeks yet (hope not!)

I had a bishop score of 5 and 1cm, gave birth 12 hours later.

That sounds good Huggle!
Alas I'm still waiting, contractions about every 10-15 mins. Trying to keep moving and let gravity help, I guess she will come out when she is ready and not before!

With my first I had all the signs, baby fully engaged, cervix short, everything favourable. I remained that way for weeks. With my second my cervix was long, head totally free and v unfavourable. Went into labour a few hours later.

They really do just come when they are ready.
