What does "fragmented placenta" mean?

I found my birth record for dd, she's 4.6 so aaaages ago Grin but I was interested to see it said fragmented placenta on it. What does that mean? Birth was an elected cs, which I was gently encouraged to do (I didn't need much encouraging tbh, 2 weeks over due despite three sweeps, first baby was cs, plus I had a broken coccyx at the time!)

Did the placenta get fragmented because of the cs, or was it due to the fact she was overdue?

I suspect it means that the placenta was in bits as opposed to whole, which can often be the case at CS.
