Did you have a private room for post delivery?

I couldn't wait to be discharged from the large hospital I delivered in. The delivery service was great but once on the ward (4-6 women per room) it was crazy.
People buzzing every 5 mins 24h a day (myself included), babies crying and having no idea if it yours as top soon to know own babies cry so having to check every time so no sleep.
Women crying day and night. Boiling hot and generally not a very relaxing place to be.
I arrived on the ward at 2am and left by 1pm as was too much for me.
We don't have a lot of money but would think of paying for a private room next time and recommending one to any of my friends who were expecting.
If you paid for a private room was it worth it?
I don't have a lot of money but

I had a private room when I had my twins. They just wheeled me up there after my c section. It was the best nights sleep I had in months (babies were in NICU). I didn't ask but apparently it common if you have twins.

Definitely worth it. I was a first time mum and heard about the noise, lack of privacy etc. on the ward. The best thing was that DP could stay overnight. Even though he was just led there snoring all night, I felt so much better for having him there Smile. I genuinely didn't want to leave.

Before I delivered (I'd been labouring 5 mins apart on my feet for 12h already) I was told to go to the large hospital or go home (quite a long bumpy way away with a bad back let alone being in labour as well).
I could face going home but was told if I went to the hospital my DH would have to leave until I was in more established labour or visiting hours. I just broke down in tears.
There was no way I was letting DH leave me, I just couldn't cope without him. The MW at the cottage hospital managed to speak to the large hospital and find us a private room where DH could stay with me.
It was a good job as I ended up demanding an epidural after 24h in labour at 1am (only 2cms) as I was so tired and dehydrated I thought I was going to pass out then would need an EMCS.
It still took another 16h for DS to arrive but I pushed him out in 1 1/4h on my own.

I was given a private room because I suffered a bereavement just before DD was born and still pretty much in shock.

They did say if there is an emergency I'd have to vacate.

If I had any more I would pay for a room, I can be very grumpy and don't think I'd cope with sharing!
