I found this article after following a link on another thread and browsing her blog.

As a first-timer I found it quite a reassuring article. I am using natal hypnotherapy, yoga and attending NCT ... but have felt uneasy that sometimes in classes/publications promoting natural birth the natural fear/pain (and understanding that there are risks) is kind of 'glossed over'. And that pain/fear was 'wrong' and would do bad things.
I was getting scared of getting scared IYSWIM!

I think one of the biggest problems in NHS maternity care is they way they handle people who want to opt out. It sounds like form what you are saying squizta that is a problem in Holland too.

I know I found trying not to have an ultrasound really hard and had be seen by a consultant that then played the dead baby card etc. When all I was saying is I don;t want the optional tests thanks. In the end I had them because I couldn't cope with the badgering about.

I can not imagine how hard it must be if the person is the all day!

I think it just shows we need much more individualized care for pregnant women. (a point I think I you are making on another thread)
