Placenta query...

DS is two now, so it's not a recent thing, but it has been bugging me.

He was delivered by ventouse, and when he was delivered, the placenta came out too.

Is this normal? He wasn't breathing straight away so I didn't give it much thought at the time, but now we are thinking about ttc again, I'm trying to come to terms with a few of the birth issues, and I can't find anything about this online.

I would have thought that the placenta holds oxygenated blood so baby would have been fine for a few minutes or even if he did not breathe straight away. Was there any concerns?
It seems to me that they want the placenta out ASAP after the birth as they usually give you that jab to make the womb expel it?
My first was a ventouse delivery and it was so quick that I don't think it would have mattered ig they had accidentally hoiked the placenta out as well. Your next child birth will probably be unaided. It's usually the first that needs those interventions as everything is so tight.

I think every birth is really different, if it came out immediately & without injection I would think it must have been ready to come, I cant imagine they could have caused it to come sooner than ready without causing you major damage? (Might be wrong?)

Anyway, all I was going to add was that with my birth pretty much as soon as I stood (was helped) to get out of the birthing pool the placenta literally fell out! MW was shocked, but no concerns. She said some ppls come out quicker than others - I would assume your 3rd stage was similar to mine in that sense?

Your maternity hospital will probably have a Birth Afterthoughts service, where at any time after the birth you can discuss your birth with a senior midwife. I wonder if you might find that helpful as you consider TTC again.
