I am under care of kings for pre natal but am thinking of home birth - midwife said for me to call PRUH tomorrow to see if they offer home birth.just wondering if anyone knows if this is possible for post code BR3? Saves night of worrying if this is option. Thanks

Hi
thanks again for your reply. just wondering if you have any tips for birth generally. i spoke to a community MW and I can get home birth so long as remain low risk which is good.

I had home births in Bromley with Pruh as my local hospital. Great service from the midwives. When you think you are due make your bed up with a decorators sheet over your clean sheets and old sheets on top. That way after the birth you can just roll up and dump the dirty stuff snd voila clean sheets! Although tbh hardly any mess as midwives very good at cleaning as you go along. Also on midwife's advice, gave birth on 'all fours' which seemed to make sense and there was no tearing, which may be linked. Hope it all goes well.

For me I did hypnobirthing with a local lady, which I found really helped me keep calm and focused ..I believe that it's about mental attitude.. It doesn't matter how babies get here as long as it's safe so not to feel disappointed if it doesn't go to plan .. All 3 of mine very different... And I always kept in my head the pain will be over soon and what will be will be and that I might not be able to control the situation, but I can control how I deal with it be excited by labour as now I know i won't have anymore I kinda of feel sad I won't have that experience again

Can I suggest contacting the local NCT group in Beckenham. It's Beckenham and boarders. They are a wonderful group of women with a fair bit of experience of homebirth.

I didn't experience good antenatal care post 39 weeks and as a result ended up birthing at the PRUH. However even though hospital was the last place I wanted to give birth I was attended by a wonderful midwife who managed to support the type of birth I wanted even though I barely spoke ( I arrived at 9.5cm) .

I realise my post might come across as negative. It isn't there were some extraordinary circumstances around my birth ( i was still low risk) which changed the nature of the interaction between the midwives and I.
