The anaesthetist(?sp) will make the decision when he does your pre-op assessment.I would have thought they will go ahead unless you have a temp or any other signs of it being a chest infection rather than a simple cold.
Try not to panic and Good Luck.

If you're having a spinal (usual) it will be fine.

I had a stinking cold the day before I had my son by elective section and was panicing too. Basically the hospital didn't care as long as I didn't have a high temp (also rang cousin who is a surgeon and he said didn't matter at all) Bizarrely as soon as ds was born cold seemed to vanish, think my body realised it had more important things to focus on!

No advice Im afraid, but the very best of luck with the section. I hope it goes well and your cold goes soon.

My DH had a stinking cold the day before my elective. I was all for phoning the hospital to see if they would cancel it in case it was dangerous to the brand new baby being held by a Daddy who was full of the cold. Looking back, I was in complete denial about having a section and it was a desperate attempt to put it off. However, I am not suggesting for one moment that this is what you are thinking mookett.

Best wishes for tomorrow, I hope all goes well and my advice would be big pants and take all the painkillers they offer you.

BTW DH soon forgot about his cold and ds didn't catch it.

I also had a cold when I had my caesar. Didn't seem to be a problem. Just watch out afterwards if you have a cough. I had a coughing episode the day after the caesar and the force of it actually stretched my stitches. Made my recovery much more painful.
Good Luck.

Just to add, if you need to cough or sneeze, hold a pillow to your scar. It will feel as though your insides are going to fall out but they won't, honestly!

Don't be surprised if a bit of wee comes out as well on sneezing(once catheter removed). That too can be sorted once you've got your groove back in a few days time.

good luck! You'll be grand!

Thanks everyone. DS and DD1/DD2 in bed now, DH cooking tea, so finally I can have a bath and go "uuuuuuh, I've got a cooooold"!!

The razor awaits!!
