Post C/Section-ers - how long before you can push a pram or use a bjorn baby type carrier?

Like I say, post op for C/Section and m/wives seem to think I should not push the pram for 6 weeks.

Aside from feeling like I am under house arrest, the trouble is I have to do the school run and if I can't drive for 6 weeks and can't push the pram (therefore can't walk) how exactly am I supposed to get DS1 to school and back without relying on all the other mums in the village for a whole month???

I though maybe I could use the carrier instead but suspect this is a problem too.

Opinions please! :-)

qazxc i have the same steps issue. and i have a similar wrap to a moby... I can just lift myself up the stairs when im using both handrails. trying to get a pram up (when your not meant to carry anything hevier than baby anyway) is just plain impossible. having the wrap means baby is weightless nd im hands free.

it has realy meant my freedom to get out and about..

I was pushing the pram on day 3 post C/S (dc number 3) and it wasn't my most straightforward recovery (number 2 was easier but I didn't have to get out and about so quickly with that one)!

Pushing the pram sort of helped me with walking as it provided a bit of support Grin. I drove after 4 weeks with all of my C/S following a quick GP visit in each case to "sign off" for insurance purposes.

I can't see what the issue would be with a pram unless you're talking about a double mclaren or something which can be hard to push. I have a mountain buggy this time which is super easy to push and it just wasn't an issue. It also has the carrycot up at waist height so I wasn't bending down or fiddling with straps. I wouldn't have folded/lifted it until I was driving and had to haul it in and out the car though (4 weeks post op) - no problem if you can leave the pram up and ready to go in the house or garage.

I probably was 3-4 weeks before using the baby bjorn as had heavy babies and it holds them awkwardly near position of scar.
