Have recently read about this as a homeopathic remedy for inducing labour - has anyone used it and can comment on results, please?

squsishy, a disgusting boiled up mixture of the stuuf in an attempt to induce a late ds1,now maybe all this is completely unrelated, but when I went into labour with him days later I had a terrible and I mean terrible bleed. It was like masses of chopped liver was pouring out of me. It was placenta and he was born by em section. Perhaps it is unrelatesd, but I've since heard the stuff can be pretty dangerous. It is also used to induce abortions eraly in preg. Take care with it though please, just in case. I've found it hard to live with the guilt that I might have caused that to happen.

Wow, that's interesting, thanks. Has anyone else had any good/bad experiences? Can't find much positive information about it, but I thought homeopathic stuff is normally fairly safe

I do not think women should use it to induce themselves... for example it can start off labour really hard and then tail off and you have NO more momentum got going on your own and will require synto drip.
It can also not work.
I nw many homeopath who really do not recommend it either!!!!
BTW - As a mum I did use it and regretted it... didn't use it again.
As a doula I always say what is said above and most women will go in labour a bit later anyway... how late are you? It works well in some scenarios in labour not to induce.

I'm not late, just trying to research the properties of it - most of what I've read seems to be rather negative, or very cautious. Also, I find it is interesting to read about the 'natural' things that can encourage labour but think I would draw the line at taking a 'remedy' especially when it has such negative press!

I tried the homeopathic version of this to go into labour with my son. It was recommended to me by Neil's Yard and apparently they sell quite a lot of it. It didn't work, but then neither did Clary Sage oil, fresh pineapple, sex, long walks, rasberry leaf tea, nipple tweaking or a reflexology session! (yes, I really did try everything).
To be honest as its homeopathic there is only 1 molecule in every hundred tablets or something anyway, so don't see any harm in trying it. I'd recommend the reflexology too - didn;t work but was told more than one session might have, and at least it made me a lot more relaxed! There's also evidence for acupuncture working apparently.

"To be honest as its homeopathic there is only 1 molecule in every hundred tablets or something anyway, so don't see any harm in trying it.".... I would strongly disagree with that... if the remedy is meant to work than it will work.... why bother taking it if it is not meant to work! It's the result of it working which you need to be prepared for.
I saw a mum take caullophyllum under epidural and you could see the incredible difference in the contractions on the monitor ! I was actually very surprised!

I didn't mean it didn't work, just that I can't see any medical reason not to take it! ( I'm a Dr, but that doesn't mean I don't believe in alternative therapies, although there still isn't much evidence for a lot of it other than acupuncture). It seems to be fairly widely advertised for bringing on labour, and apparently also helps with healing after birth, so I'd say its worth a try even though it didn;t work for me.
