Waters broke last night...still nothing.

They went with a gush at 10pm, startling the life out of me as they didn't go til the very end with my first baby. Since then - nothing! Despite planning a home birth, I went into hospital to be checked over and all fine - waters are clear, baby's heartbeat and movement are fine, head is down and engaged and I'm well so been sent home but an induction booked tonight if nothing gets going. They made it clear I can decline induction and just get checked over again and wait a little longer but I'm very nervous and apprehensive.

I've had vomiting and diarrhoea, which is how my first labour got going. Only had two hours sleep last night so am exhausted and can't keep any food down so am seriously lacking energy! Advice seems to be to be active, walk lots, go up and downstairs and I'm trying but so tired so interspersing it with brief naps.

I don't have a birth ball to bounce up and down on, which might help - I stupidly didn't anticipate labour at 37 weeks and hadn't finished getting everything ready! Am really panicking about being induced in hospital as I had such a great birth last time and really want a home birth this time but worried that nothing is going to get going. Just wish the contractions would start!

Hi Jelly. I noticed you had no replies. It is also a while since you posted so I hope that means things are moving along. Do get some rest. Best wishes for a smooth and pain free delivery Flowers.

I also hope things are happening for you too by now! Just to add that something similar happened to me, I was booked for home birth, waters broke, induction booked and was told I had 24 hours to deliver. Contractions started after 20 hours but as a nervous first timer I was panicked by the mid wife's threat that I might have to transfer to hospital midway through labour if things went slowly and I needed drip etc. So I went in, had IV antibiotics as a precaution, speedy straightforward labour, and baby was born well within the 24 hours. In retrospect I wish I'd given it a try at home!

So in a roundabout way I'm trying to say you can still hold out for your home birth if that's what you want Smile

Thanks! Unfortunately nothing got going so I did have to have the induction. It was all fine and I have a lovely little boy back at home with me now. Disappointed to not get my home birth but pleased with the outcome!
