Music festival 4 weeks after elective c-section - bad idea?

I have a feeling i know what answer im going to get...but anyway i'm due to give birth to my 2nd child around the end of july (haven't been booked in for section as yet).
Thing is, I desperately want to go to the V festival (just the 1 day) which is the end of August.
My first daughter (now 2.5) was born by emergency section after a troubled labour, so i'll be having an elective section this time. I can't really remember how soon i was up & about after last time, but am sure i drove before 6 weeks with no problems, so am wondering if jumping up & down to Pink 4 weeks after a section is a really bad idea or if anyone thinks its feasible...
Would be grateful for anyones opinions!
Thanks
Elwar

Difficult, I haven't had a cs but have had an abdominal operation and I think you will struggle, with tiredness as much as anything - these things make a long day and for much of it you will be on your feet. If you did decide to go, could you take a fold up chair or something so you can get some rest.

I'm sure I'll get diapproved of but was back on a horse after four weeks with first emergency cc and same after second elective. Also back at gym after two weeks - walking/sretching. Taking it easy - depends on you on how fit you were. Think I was very lucky and "forgot" about internal stitching. My sister who is also quite into fitness didn't hardly walk for the first two weeks. But I was fine - it's a personal decision.

I'd go but would probably not actually jump around much. Would spend much of the day sprawled on grass then would drag self to feet just to see the odd band or 2. Perhaps not a good idea to go right down the front?

I'd go. 4 weeks after my c-section I would definately have been OK. I would make sure I had help with childcare the day afterwards as well though you might find it suddenly hits you. And make sure whoever you are going with will understand if you have to leave early.

I was fine after my sections too within a week or two

I would do it if I felt ok at the time. Can you get rid of your ticket to someone else if you're not up to it?

It's difficult to say really as obviously you won't know how you feel until the time comes.

I have had 3 sections and i think by week 4 i was doing pretty much everything (including dragging buggy up a flight of stairs).

I would go , but just be careful and if you feel it's a bit much take a rest.

I'm now in my 4th week after an elective and I'd go feeling the way I do now. Don't know that I'd do the jumping but that's just me!

Hopefully it'll be sunny so you can sit down and rest if you need to.

Go for it girl! Life is for living and what better way to celebrate. I had an emergency section and though was a bit uncomfortable for a whiley afterwards and even walking was tiring.

I was 3 days overdue and went to see the Rolling Stones. Still didn't put me in labour.

If you feel tired then just sit down. You don't have to crowd surf down the front. Chill out and enjoy!!

I would go, a festival is different than a gig in that you have loads of space to lounge around on grass (depending on weather). Don't go down the front though!

elwar · 17/03/2004 16:24

Wow, thanks for all your replies! Very helpful indeed. I've decided to get a ticket and see how i feel, like a couple of you said i can always sell it if i feel too rough when the time comes. I definitely didn't plan on crowd surfing, so should be ok there! Am also considering a different festival a week later instead, but feel much better about it all now. Thanks all!

You're very brave...but go for it, you can always lounge idly on the grass making other people go to the '£3 for a plastic cup of watery lager which will spill on the way back' bar, which should be quite satisfying...

I'm due end of July/start of August & currently making husband's life a misery a) sulking because I'm going to miss Download & b) refusing to let him book any gigs for HIS band after mid July...
