I haven't bought a single thing. I can't remember what to take into hospital with me. I need some pyjamas for me ( never wear the bloody things at home, so need some for hospital, or I risk scaring lots of vulnerable woman, who probably don't need to see my wobbly, naked flesh) Also, need to sort through the melee of junk in the loft in order to find car seat and moses basket etc. Think that will be a job for DP.

We were also meant to move DS into the larger bedroom in our house with a view to him eventually sharing with the baby, but have never got round to it. We will probably leave it now until around Xmas time, as it will be too unsettling.

I just can't seem to get off my botty and get myself sorted. Please kick me where the sun don't shine

Many thanks

Don't go climbing into the loft or heaving things around! Get a cup of tea and a pen and papar, sit on your arse and make a list of what needs doing - and delegate anything physical plus as much else as is possible to DP. Step 2 - go online shopping for the jimjams. See - no need to move!

intergalacticwalrus · 16/08/2006 12:23

lol. Sitting on my arse is what I do best. Will probably go to Tesco at the weekend and buy all I need from there. Can't be arsed traipsing round town

Remember to bring lots of food/snack for yourself because that hospital food leaves little to be desired.

DollyP · 16/08/2006 19:32

Prunes / apricots etc for afterwards to help you poo.

Industrial sanitary towels.

Dettox wipes (if your hospital is like mine)

Flip flops for the shower.

Dark towels

Bit of slap

Black and white film

Some treat type body lotion / shower gel etc

Huge bottle of champagne.

Earplugs.

Good luck XXX

If you're feeling flush and want to treat yourself, Dr Hauschka Lavender Bath is great for the scar (and general relaxation).

Also agree re the food. Take packets of posh biscuits, plus some nice squash which you can use when they bring you a jug of water.

I also took a nice pillow from home with clean fresh homey pillowcase on it, and a cuddly toy. For baby, you'll need more than the normal amount of nappies, vests and sleepsuits, as you'll probably be in for a few days.

tea tree oil. Put a few drops in warm water for bathing wound - great for healing.

Highlander · 17/08/2006 09:49

your own Ibuprofen and paracetamol - tell the midwives (in writing) you're self-medicating. They won't remember to bring it to you. Max dose of both for 48 hours.

That lavender bath sounds nice, snowleopard. Is it very lavendery?

LaDiDaDi · 17/08/2006 10:34

Pick a nice paperback book to take as well.

Uwila · 17/08/2006 10:39

Why would you want to self medicate when they have all those lovely drugs for free?

Nice soft blanket for baby, scratch mitts, water bottle for yourself, olive oil for baby's skin, loads of cotton wool for baby's bottom...

Mum2FunkyDude · 17/08/2006 11:02

As an afterthought, clean house before you go, that way, don't have to worry about it for a few weeks!

snowleopard · 17/08/2006 22:30

Highlander it's my fave product in the world. It is strongly lavendery but not at all in an old-lady way, more in a bracing, slightly medicinal and very pure way - it's just essential oils and base oils and very little else - DR H are one of the few brands that genuinely are "natural" and not stuffed with all kinds of preservatives etc. As such it has the healing properties that you get with lavender essential oil but in bath form. Also brilliant for a facial if you soak a flannel in hot water with L. bath mixed in, and lay over your face - blissssss.

You can get it at Space NK and John Lewis. I just wish Boots did Dr H as then I would get advantage points.
