I think they've gone in the loo!
This happened with dd, the little sac of waters went first then everything else came a few hours later.

So what do I do now? Have had 2 tightnings and thats it so I'm not really contracting.
What will the hospital do?

I would phone hosp. They asked me to go in to have half hours monitering and to check waters were clear.

I had my dd2 last Tuesday so good luck. How exciting!!!!!

let us know how you go?

humpydumpy · 07/08/2006 07:36

Think you are ment to put a pad in and call the delivery suite and they will advise you what to do. Same happened to me and they asked me to go in to be checked and ended up keeping me in.

YellowFeathers · 07/08/2006 07:36

Oh thanks!
What will they do though if I'm not contracting and it is just the little bag of waters?

Am just a bit bothered that they'll say they'll induce me or worse section if I'm not contracting!

I went in for monitering and was sent home to await contractions which took a few hours to start.

humpydumpy · 07/08/2006 07:38

If you don't start contracting after a certain number of hours (something like 24hrs) will induce you.

humpydumpy · 07/08/2006 07:46

When I had DD they induced me the next day and because waters had gone previous day didn't bother with the gel stuff and went straight to the drip thing. It all went really quick and DD was here in 3.5 hrs. Have you phoned delivery suite yet? How exciting for you and very jealous

YellowFeathers · 07/08/2006 07:48

Haven't called them yet. Was going to hang on till 9 so I could see if I had some contractions. Ive had about 4/5 now but not regular.
What if I'm not "ripe" enough for induction?

OP posts:
trice · 07/08/2006 07:54

They are allowed to wait 48hrs these days between waters and induction. If you don't want to be induced hang on in there. I was induced 24hrs after waters broke with the drip (only irregular and faint contractions) and it only took 40 mins to have ds. Good luck.

trice · 07/08/2006 07:55

If your waters broke without a really strong contraction you are probably as "ripe" as anything.

YellowFeathers · 07/08/2006 08:04

40 mins wow!

Am now thinking what if it was nothing lol!

YellowFeathers how exciting, is anyone with you just incase?

loubeth · 07/08/2006 08:47

How exciting for you! My waters have just gone too so kind of in the same situation! It does depend on your midwife department but I would phone the midwife section and ask advice. They usually ask you you to pop in even if you are not having contractions just to confirm waters have broke. If no contractions have started within 24hrs they may induce you due to the possiblity of infection but this changes from hospital to hospital. Good luck, hope all goes well.

Hiya Trace

No am on my own but dh is only 5 mins away if I need him back.

YellowFeathers, exactly the same thing happened with my two - ie, waters went first then went into labour a few hours later.

With no2, dh phoned the hospital soon after the waters broke and they told me to come in asap. Some hospitals will let you go for 24 hours, others for longer.

Good luck and best wishes!! Keep posting!

trace2 · 07/08/2006 09:09

carnt move off here waiting to find out.

YellowFeathers · 07/08/2006 09:32

Ok
have called labour ward.
Got to go in and be checked out in case they have gone and risk of infection blah blah. She did say it didn't sound convincing and not to rush but go in before afternoon.

Soooo, I have my brother and sister in law coming up to look after dd, that'll take them an hour and I'll call dh back when they arrive.

At least I'll know whats going on down below anyway lol

Nice recommend two things 1) induction or 2) wait for up to 96hours to see if you go into labour naturally (they can check your temp etc for any sign of infection). I do know some woman have waited longer than this (up to 2 weeks) and have gone into labour naturally with no problems.

Have a lovely labour. How exciting

Mercy · 07/08/2006 11:48

Are you still around - any progress?

Mercy · 14/08/2006 15:33

Yellowfeathers, have just realised you are still posting - what happened?
