Which hospital to choose RVI or Queen Elizabeth?

Hi everyone
I've just joined mumsnet and I'm overwhelmed by the amount of info available -it's great. I've got my first appointment with midwife on Thursday and she's already pressing me for decision on which hospital I wish to give bith in. Having trawlled the internet for days, I can't find any feedback on Queen Elizabeth in Gateshead vs Royal Victoria Infirmary in Ncle - has anyone got any suggestions or info on their experiences with either?
Any advice would be great - not getting a nice warm feeling towards the midwife and I've not even met her yet!

That sounds good LaDiDaDi, thanks for that. So far I've found website Funmum.com based in Edinburgh which sells great casual stuff. I've bought bits and pieces for Oz in Dec. Tried Blooming Marvellous as well but they didn't have any of the sizes I wanted. Have got a wedding in Oz in December so may have a trip through to Whitley Bay.

Hi Allyco - when are you due? I'm due around 26th March, got first scan due on 11th Sept so will hopefully have better idea then.

We've just found out the baby is presenting itself with an arm first. If it is likly to be complicated, should we choose the RVI over North Tyneside? I'm 41+2 weeks and all the way through we have been opting for North Tyneside. Is it too late to swap even if it is a better hospital to be in?

No idea if it's too late to swap, probably isn't. What does your mw say? What a long nickname you have!

Thanks for the advice. I changed my name by deed poll as I didn't know how to do it before. Kind of liked the really long one. We are seeing the midwife tomorrow, so I guess we'll ask her.
