Placenta praevia

At my 20 week scan the sonographer spotted that my placenta is covering my cervix. She said that it seemed like a pretty even coverage of placenta all round.

I'm hoping that it will move as my uterus stretches upwards as it grows - I would like to avoid a section. Logically my head knows that as long as baby and I are safe then all is fine. But I'm terrified of the unfamiliar after 2 relative straightforward and "easy" vaginal labours with our 2 boys, I had naively assumed this would be the same. I've had a difficult pregnancy and whilst I'm only 22 weeks and know that things might change I really am worried about a cartoon. Just want another vaginal birth please as I know how to do them.

If you had placenta praevia, did yours move enough for a vb?

Of course I would be worried about a cartoon birth! Although it might be more fun I suppose :)

If it's totally covering the cervix it's unlikely to move. If it's anterior, again they often don't move enough. Posterior usually do move enough. Hope all goes well x

Mine was low and completely covering the cervix anterior extending posterior, re scan at 32 weeks showed that it had moved by 5cm!

The same person scanned me both times and he was very surprised by the movement, but just shows , it is possible !

Yep, by 36 weeks it had moved left lateral so had a vaginal birth after all.
