Any (home inductions) actually worked for you?

I know some people say they are all old wives tales, but I've heard some of them have been proven to actually work?! Anything work for you? Curry, sex, walking, raspberry tea ect.. Or was it just a coincidence Wink

The weekend before i had ds i did the walking and the sex, had a curry, and bounced loads on the birthing ball. I'm sure it probably is just a coincidence but it cant do any harm trying Grin

I'm pretty sure that dtd with DH broke my waters... and contractions started within 2 hours.

Pixielady83 · 23/01/2014 09:06

My waters went after bouncing on my ball for a while, I had also just started taking evening primrose oil that lunchtime. I honestly think both were coincidence though and if you're ready to go, they will only encourage things.

Josie314 · 23/01/2014 09:49

I tried everything I could think of to get labour going with DD, and my cervix was still completely closed at my induction (at 40 weeks).

CuteLittleToes · 23/01/2014 11:36

My waters broke after bouncing on the ball too. Even if it doesn't start anything, I would recommend it anyway, as it helps to get baby into good position and helps with back pain too. Doesn't have to be any special ball, cheap £5 from Argos will do just as well!

Pineapple worked for me, twice! Grin

Expectans · 23/01/2014 14:23

Tried sex, lots of exercise and colostrum expressing, and the baby did come naturally before induction date.

Worth a try!

dannydyerismydad · 23/01/2014 14:29

I tried everything. DS finally came out by EMCS after a failed induction at 43 weeks!

I've heard pumping colostrum can work. That's the only one I didn't try.

FossilMum · 23/01/2014 14:41

Well, pineapple, curry, walking and sex were all useless in my case. My waters broke in my sleep at 40+12. Far easier and more pleasant than eating all that bloody pineapple. It was years before I could face another one.

PastaandCheese · 23/01/2014 16:52

I tried the usually last time. I am trying reflexology this time on the midwife's advice. Apparently there is evidence to suggest it might help?

BNmum · 23/01/2014 17:23

I tried dtd, curry, pineapple, walks, going up and down the stairs (x million), bouncing on the ball and nothing worked. After threats of an induction I tried nipple stimulation to bring my milk in and that seemed to get things going albeit slowly.

Pregnantberry · 23/01/2014 17:27

I know someone who insists pineapple induced them, but I'm a little sceptical. Surely if you are at a stage where you're ready to be induced, and you eat bowls and bowls of pineapple or curry and go into labour, that was just because, well, you were ready to go into labour. You could have been eating cornflakes or marshmallows and the same would have happened. Confused

brettgirl2 · 23/01/2014 17:27

I tried aromatherapy. Last time I posted it on mn the op tried it and went straight into labour. I'm sure it was the clary sage and jasmine not coincidence but she seemed convinced Grin

pettyprudence · 23/01/2014 17:44

I used accupressure and ds arrived the next day. I am more sure it was the cut/colour appointment i had booked (and ended up missing) that made him arrive though... swine Grin

CuppaSarah · 24/01/2014 08:36

I went to mcdonalds and got really angry they gave MY chicken nuggets to a woman who ordered some before me, the rage brought on my first proper contraction which I assumed was a braxton hicks at the time. Poor girl at the till looked horrified

I shall try getting angry again next time to see if there's something in it.

OldBeanbagz · 24/01/2014 08:47

I had curry & a glass of wine the night before both my DC were born.

DD was 5 days late and i think it was the sex rather than the curry that brought labour on (contractions started the moment we'd finished!).

DS was one week early so i'm more inclined to think it was the curry/wine (no sex this time).
