Delaying induction

I am currently 40+11 with Dc2 and I'm hoping for a home birth.

I have said I would like to delay booking induction so I have to now go under consultant care. My midwife team have said that they will still support me at home but I'm dreading having to fight to stay at home if I go over 42 weeks.

Does anyone have any experience of refusing induction? Was your consultant supportive or did they just tell you horror stories?

I'm going back about 9 yrs but my friend refused induction and actually gave birth naturally at 42 + 16.

She did have to fight hard. They were (happish) to let her go to +14. After that she had to go in daily for a scan or test her fluids levels (I think).

She was always adamant age was given the wrong due date. It was a good birth, healthy baby etc. She was told the baby would be enormous but I think he was about 8lbs 8 ish.

Sorry NOT 42+16.....40+16. Blimey, 42+16 would be going some!

My consultant was very happy to have it delayed to +14, I had previously gone to +17 but had grade 3 meconium in my waters. After +14 they won't support homebirth, nor did the do placenta scanning so I decided to agree to +14.

I also have huge babies and despite having 4 dc have always needed to be induced. I was bothered about having one that didn't scream constantly for 5 months than I was about the birth tbh!
