With my labour with ds, the first thing I remember, and oddly the clearest, was my bowels emptying and then contractions started (during Eastenders )

How many other people had this?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Trix - 1st time i did a whole bottle and went into labour 4 hours later.
2nd time I did half a bottle in the morning and nothing all day so did the 2nd half in the evening and went into labour about 4 gours later again.
Deffo works that stuff!

Yep, diarrhoea with DD1, big no2 with DD2, then staight into 5 mins apart contractions ! SO glad to have got it all out

beacon · 01/08/2006 20:26

My waters broke, then after about an hour the contractions started 3 minutes apart. To make matters worse between each contraction I had the squits so had no time to prepare for the next one. This went on for about 6 hours before I finally said enough and asked for an epidural. The bummer of it all was that I had to have an emergency CS in the end. Still got a BEAUTIFUL baby out of it!!

quootiepie · 01/08/2006 21:23

told the runs was a sign of impending labour.

trix1 · 14/08/2006 19:40

Ive had the runs this evening which is unusual for me, ive not eaten anything to bring it on so I wonder could this be a sign? Or is it just wishfull thinking.

Sorry for tmi but im desperate for labour to start.

muminamini · 14/08/2006 20:19

Big clear out (from both ends) kicked it all of for me !
Probably all the bloody pineapple, raspberry leaf tea and curry I had been troughing in a vain attempt to get things going!

DumbledoresGirl · 14/08/2006 20:27

No diarrhoea, no vomiting (otherwise I would never have done it 4 times) and no pooing during labour either. I sound like Little Miss Pure! can I redeem myself in your eyes by saying I definitely remember weeing during one contraction? It embarrassed dh no end, but didn't bother me!

Tillyboo · 14/08/2006 22:54

waters broke whilst reading Harry Potter at 1am in the morning, got to hospital, no contractions until they gave me a sweep. Only mild to start with, then back ache, then had the trots a bit. Then, violently sicked up all my fish and chips (never had them since) for about 20 mins, followed by relentless contractions. 12hrs later a dd was born.

ledodgyrobespierre · 14/08/2006 22:59

With my first I didn't have the runs but did do pelet type poos (tmi!) during pushing, I also vomited during labour but only once. With my second I didn't poo before or during, wasn't sick either (it was only 40 mins from start to finish) but I did get the shakes.

lucykate · 14/08/2006 23:01

yep, with both of mine. with the second, i had a few false alarms but as soon as i was contracting and having the trotts i knew he was on his way
