GD 36 weeks Induction

Hello

Due to gestational diabetes I am being induced at 36 weeks and I have a few questions.

Do the steroid injections hurt?
If being induced so early am I likely to need more than one pessary?
When will I be put on the sliding scale, will it be when I go in or when labour is established?

If anyone has been in a similar position what happened with your baby after birth did they need to go to SBCU or did they stay with you?

I've never had the injection but given it many times. Reports say its no more painful than any other needle really.

You will most likely be put on a sliding scale once labour is 'established' or if they need to start with the drip to get things going. There is no way of knowing how much intervention you'll need. Some inductions at term take ages to get going and some at 36/40 whizz through.

You should be able to chat with your midwife about this who can give you more answers. Make an appt to see her to ask questions, and write them all down before so you don't forget! And they may be able to arrange for you to chat with a peadiatrician about what may happen once baby is out.

Good luck.
