Wax, shave or leave for HCP's before c-section?

Hello, I'm having my 3rd CS in Jan and i can't remember what I do re hair removal beforehand? My scar healed so brilliantly last time and the guy who did it even said before he operated that he'd 'sort out' the scar from my 1st CS which was really raised and lumpy and much more sore while healing.

I have a lovely scar now, flat and hardly visible and I'm starting to convince myself it was my method of hair removal which made a difference (and a good surgeon of course!).

Also, did you ask for dissolving stitches? I think I got them 2nd time round and wonder if they made a difference to the healing process. Am getting a bit nervous about it all...I really hated my anaesthetist on CS no.2 and it's stressing me out thinking I'll get someone who doesn't talk to me or reassure me or even properly concentrate as he was crap for those reasons. Crikey, i really am worried. Sorry if I sound a bit bonkers...

Hello, I'm a pro :-)
You leave it. They will shave you hair immediately before as studies show this leads to least risk of infection. A good surgeon will excise any lumpy scar tissue but the more times you have surgery in the same place the more likely you are to develop wound problems and hernias. Afterwards massage the scar daily with any moisturiser using small circular motion. The pressure helps flatten the scar. Good luck x

Ps most surgeons use dissolvable stitches but actually a single subcutaneous problems stitch which is removed after 12 days also gives as good if not better results as no knots are left ,these can cause little stitch abscesses. Both fine.

Thank you olympicsrock you do sound v knowledgable which is reassuring me. I think I remember waxing before CS no.1 but I may not have not bothered before CS no. 2 which ties in with what you say. I am going to relax re:type of stiches now too - think I've had both kinds, just can't remember in which order. Didn't know about the scar massage, so will defo do that.

The irony is that the problems which led to the prev CS I'm not really experiencing this time, but consultants seem keen to do another CS as I've had two before. Also got a hernia so I guess pushing may not be ideal. Anyway, I digress-thanks for your help. Xx
