I know it's Christmas morning and you are all too busy, but i have the dreaded pregnancy insomnia at the moment so I'm wide awake!
my dd is 21 months old and I had to have a spinal and forceps to deliver her as she got stuck, episiotimy etc bad healing afterwards etc.
anyway my question is: My twins are due to arrive in March and I'm getting worried about the birth already. they want me to have an induction at 36 weeks which is fine, but please tell me a second birth is easier and quicker and less painful afterwards(healing) than the first.
Merry Christmas everyone x

Happy Christmas!

My second birth was significantly better in every way than my first!

My first went on for days, back to back delivery of a massive baby. I honestly thought I might die and then wished I would!

Second was over and done with in 3 hours! Less painful, if you can say that about giving birth! Faster, easier pushing. She was out in one push once I was ready to do it.

I'm now waiting very impatiently for them to wake up so I can start Christmas morning. Grin

Oh and I had far less damage the second time. Healed up ok within a few weeks.

I had a traumatic first birth with forceps, cuts etc. panicked abit when pregnant 2nd time about experiencing same thing.... Was offered ELCS bit decided the way forward would be drugs! Had diamorphine, epidural and G&A. Lovely experience Grin pushed baby out with ease, still had recovery but that was bearable xx

Mine was much easier.

DC1 was induced with the drip. Ended up with epidural.

DC2 was induced by ARM. No pain relief. 4cm to birth in 2 hours.

DC3 is due any day. A spontaneous, on-time labour would be a good start!

Everyone told me it would be easier with ds2 after traumatic delivery of ds1 and it was! It was very different. I just had ds2 last week and birth was amazing. It was much quicker and less painful. I had a wonderful doula too who helped me through all the worry beforehand then supported me during the labour. Birth still full of surprises though - was so quick there was no time for a room once at hospital but I was so thrilled it was quick I couldn't have cared less! Good luck for the birth and all the lovely times to come. I am sure it will be better.

Oh goodness thank you so much. They will be early so will be smaller too. Perhaps I should just go with the induction then? Was worrying so much was going to ask for c section. I hope they will just out.

I had dd two and a half weeks ago, her birth was a piece of piss compared to ds. Was prob in established labour for two and a half hours and pushed for 15 min in the birth pool and there she was. No drugs apart from 15 min of screaming. I'm healed up from a small tear and apart from being knackered from the cluster feeding demon baby I feel fine. Took me months to feel better after ds birth.

DC1: Official length of established labour 28 hours (ending in ventouse and forceps in theatre)

DS2: official length of established labour 11 mins. Lovely experience. This included the induction drug on to get labour going properly due to mec in waters), but as it was a 2nd labour and I had previously given birth naturally they didn't need to give too much.

I know several people with twins who have had straightforward labours, and all was well. Good luck. Oh and good luck with 3 under 2......
