How long before I stop feeling like this?

I'm day 6 post birth of my second DS, I had an EMCS last time, induction forceps vaginal birth this time. My body literally feels like I've been hit by a bus... Everything hurts.. Even my arms! I don't remember feeling like this last time.. I hoped I'd be out and about by now but now I'm dreading my husband going back to work and I've got him until jan! Am I expecting miracles?!

Yes! Take it week by week, you know it does get better.

Yes Grin I had forceps birth after a terrible labour. It took almost 3 months to fully recover. DS was born in May and I'm 100% back to normal now. It does get better, but it takes a while! Have you seen the size of the forceps? Shock

I totally underestimated this bit! It's true you forget all this stuff and just remember all the cuddles! I'm okay until the painkillers wear off! I was desperate to avoid another section but I think forceps is equally as traumatic although my midwife disagrees.

BenNJerry didn't see them until after the deed was done! Thank god!

I had a forceps delivery 2 years ago, i sufferrd a 4th degree tear along with it. I'm due to give birth by ELCS in January.

My advice is to take pain medication by the clock rather than waiting for the pain to return (i was on paracetamol & ibuprofen for months).

You will probably have a lot of internal bruising so rest as much as possible. Give yourself time and in another week or so you will feel better than you do now.

I had a similar birth and turned a corner at six weeks. It took about three to four months for my body to stop aching fully though.

Congrats in your LO Smile

Your midwife didn't go through it, so she can bugger off with her opinions!

I'd not worry about not being up and about in 6 days! I think it's only our culture that thinks women should be (or ones heavily dependent on women working the fields etc). Chinese culture traditionally expects the woman to have a month's rest and my Rwandan friend told me that in her culture it's traditionally THREE MONTHS! Obviously we don't have extended family networks to help out like they do, but just to say six days is not long.

The partner going back to work issue is hard.

I have had two emcs after failed instrumental. With the first I felt ok after a few weeks, but my insides didn't return to feeling fully normal for six months. I think this was due to the tugging from the ventouse and forceps. With the second one I was fine and exercising after 8 weeks, but they didn't do as much tugging before the cs.
