Natural labour with SPd.

This is dc3, I had minimal PGP with dc2. And even though she was back to back I had a great fast labour.

However PGP/ and SPd has kicked in ferociously this time. How did it alter your birth? And recovery?

I had SPD and had a natural home birth, don't know if it was down to the SPD but birth was v fast under 3hrs of labour, only in any real pain for last hour 5 pushes and baby out. The SPD disappeared within 24 hrs of giving birth. The SPD is one of several reasons I won't be having any more tho! It's horrid and just no relief from it!

My first was 3.5hours, and second was 1hr from start to finish. And I have been advised for home birth. Just anxious if he SPd would cause complications or not.. At the moment I can hardly walk today.. Confused

I have been house bound from 30 weeks with the last 3 pregnancies, but with each labour (all been very fast) the symptoms more or less disappeared as soon as I went in labour. Or I didn't feel them. The PGP caused no problems at all for me. Symptoms also did not return after I gave birth.

That's reassuring Smile

Watching with interest. Now 32/40 with dc2 and pgp is really kicking in Sad . Didn't have a problem with it in 1st pg but did have a fairly horrific very long labour requiring intervention at every stage... Not looking forward to labour again!

I had quite painful spd with dd4 from 24 wks. By the time i was 30+ weeks, i rarely went out and only used the stairs to go up at night and go down in the morn.

I was dreading labour because of it but once it had kicked in i didnt feel any spd pains. The midwife had to open my legs a bit and asked me to tell her when to stop but i really didnt notice.

I am now 8 wks with dc5 and its starting again already. Wasnt expecting it so soon.

I just worry that I won't have enough strength! I have no core either as my muscles in my tummy are gone to pot.

Also.. Since the SPd/ even just the back pain before. Baby is low... I have noticed that if I've been for wee in the night, get back in bed then I'll start trickling and can't stop. ( two false thoughts of waters going!) it's quite worrying but mw said it may be how baby is laying, and just being a third baby and also the pressure down there with SPd and no core

This is something I'm really worried about. I'm 35 weeks with my first and have very bad SPD to the point where I've been signed off work for a few weeks now and can hardly walk. I was recommended a water birth as my best option and midwife advised against an epidural as you can do more damage to your pelvis if you can't feel anything below the waist. Found out today I will be induced at either 37 or 38 weeks which dashes my hopes of a water birth. Do you really notice the pain of SPD when in labour or does the actual pain of labour sort of cancel out any pelvic pain you may have? (If that makes sense!). I'm terrified of doing more damage than needed Confused

The pain of labour cancels out the SPD, about the only thing that does!
