Just that really, have been listening to it most days for the past 3 weeks (due in just over 2 weeks time) and I know it says don't worry if you fall asleep but I don't think I've ever heard as far as halfway Blush

Just worried I'll get to labour, put the CD on and.....nothing as there's some kind of technique I should have been practising when I've just been snoring.

Try using it at a time when you're not tired and unlikely to fall asleep such as mid morning, but yes, you're subconscious takes everything in, all of the time when you're awake, asleep or in a coma.

If helping you keep calm and focused on breathing throughout counts as it working, yes, it does. I am convinced it gave me a relaxed approach and state of mind and I only stayed awake (I think!) once. Get your birth partner to have a listen too if you can. Good luck. You'll have your baby soon xx

Thanks! Going to try and listen later and try to stay awake this time! Smile

I used it for both my births and it was great - I used to fall asleep too. I did better the second time though, because during my first time I tried to do too much - visualistions/remembering the words etc. The second time I basically just breathed really slowly while counting, and that was it. Because it was so simple I was able to keep it up, even when I lost the plot somewhat, and it was a MASSIVE help.

I think listening to the CDs are really useful though, for keeping you feeling positive about the whole thing.

It'll absolutely still work as your subconscious will still be hearing and be receptive to the music and suggestions Smile It's like the part of your brain that stays awake enough to alert you to strange noises/needing a wee when you sleep, that part will be taking all the hypnobirthing on board! In fact, in sounds like you'll get a lot of benefit from it as you're so receptive to it! Good luck!

Absolutely, it works! I fell asleep every time.

Check and double-check that you have the means to play the music during your labour/birth. Second time around we assumed there would be a CD player in the room, rather than taking our own, and DH had to run halfway round the hospital to find a spare working one. My contractions completely stopped until the music was playing. Once the music was on they started very powerfully again.

I also assumed I had the music on my iPhone as a back-up option, and it turned out it was something totally different with a similar name...

Shockingundercrackers · 12/11/2013 18:49

It defo does. I fell asleep every time before I got to the what-to-do-when-pushing stage, but blow me I heard literally every word of that bloody woman's voice saying "breathing in... And out" whilst I pushed out ds2 with no drugs. Worked like a charm! Good luck op and don't worry.Grin

Thanks! Poppy when we had a tour of the CMU there was a CD player in every room but I'm taking my ipod as a back up just in case Smile
