sweep at 40+6 cervix too far back

Hi, this is my 1st post, just been reading other people's so far. I was just looking (begging) for reassurance from people. I am 6 days overdue with my 2nd baby and had a sweep this morning, my midwife said my cervix is very thin but was too far back to perform a sweep properly, although he is fully engaged as she touched his head. I have 3 days before induction. What do you think my chances are of going naturally?? Any advice will be great. (Apart from he'll come when he's ready!!!) Lol x

A midwife told me lots of women go into spontaneous labour the day before their induction is scheduled.

I was told I would be induced as my cervix was long, unfavourable etc and DD came that day. Sometimes it does happen quickly.

It's a bit woo but I think getting everything in order (house, childcare and emotionally, too) helps. Then you can relax and let your baby come whenever it wants instead of holding back if that makes sense? Not that we have any control over when our babies come, but I think it helps to relinquish any control we think we have Smile

I went for a sweep at 40+12, third child. Was told my cervix was too high to do a sweep and that "this baby isn't coming out any time soon". She was born 12 hours later, after spontaneous labour....

yes I have heard that a lot too, I hope it's true for me. I love that you both have positive experiences, just shows that our bodies know what they're doing even if we or our midwives don't :) I really hope I follow suit and go into labour tonight dd is very excited to meet her baby brother as are myself and dh obviously lol :)

DD was born day before induction was due at 41+3... We have 2 sweeps, and she started to come 6 hours after second one, midwife did of some reflexology as well though, I think that helped a treat

Sex sex and more sex, sperm has prostaglandins in it which also what is used to induce you so you may want to give this a whirl! There is no clinical research to quote stats but it maybe be worth trying if you prefer natural, good luck.
If your cervix is thin that's very good.
I'm assuming it's your first?

I got told this at first sweep with both my babies, both times went in to spontaneous labour the next day and both babies were born 36 hours after the attempted sweep. Good luck!

( oh was also told this baby using coming any time soon with my first)

No it was my 2nd, he is here now though with no need for induction, I went the day before spontaneously. I have read since though that some people just have a cervix that is very far back, which I must have as the midwife asked if nurses have had problems doing cervical smears in the past. I had my baby boy 3 days after sweep.
