Short sighted c sections!

This may sound ridiculous but I heard that you can't wear contact lens for your c section but do they let you wear glasses? I can't see my hand unless it is 2 inches from my face without my glasses so my first glimpse of my baby is going to be a blur! Am thinking what if they whip him away to sort stuff out can I request they shove him right in my face first! I hate being this short sighted!

I was allowed to wear my glasses :)

I was allowed to keep my contacts in. That was in 2010 though so don't know if things have changed.

I had my c section in 2010 and wasn't allowed my contacts in. I specifically asked if I could and was told that I couldn't wear contact lenses for any surgery.

Glasses were very much allowed as they can remove them in a hurry if they need to no idea why they would need to, but hey.

I am very short sighted, so I made sure my birth plan said how important my glasses are to my ability to understand situations. The last thing I would have wanted is to come round from an anesthetic and not be able to find my glasses.

So; glasses are definitely allowed :)

I'm horrifically short sighted. I kept my lenses in. It wasn't even mentioned. I may also have had a smudge of eye make up still on, even though that is technically banned too. Oops.

Thank you everyone, I feel a bit better about it now. I'm also not sure why they wouldn't let you wear your glasses apart from incase they got lost inside of me but that seems rather implausible!
Definitely a good idea to mention the importance of my glasses in a birthplan. It hadn't occurred to me that I needed one for a c section.

I can't ever remember asking anyone if they had contacts?
My experience was 9 years ago plus though. I can't see why it would be an issue but may be best to check local units policy.
They don't ask all women in labour to remove contacts in case of a section. New one for me.

In 2007 when I had DD1 I had to take out my lenses but wore my glasses.

In 2010 i had an emcs and no one mentioned contact lenses Blush
