Sudden heavy bleeding 5 weeks after ELCS, is this my period?

As the title says...had elcs 5 weeks ago, stopped bleeding 2 weeks later.

Consultant said my period could take up to 3 months to come back.

I've suddenly started bleeding heavily, getting through at least a tampon every hour....suddenly struck me this could be my period?

Periods were never this heavy before, they even told me they could be lighter as they'd given my uterus a 'good clear out'. Nice.

Has anyone else had a period so soon, and was it really heavy?

I'm not breast feeding....

i had my period around that time and it was heavy (also didnt bf) but yours sounds extremely heavy so i would phone a doctor if i were you.

yes, it probably is a period, if it is bright red blood.

if you feel ill in any way - high temperature/fever, discharge smells unpleasant (other how blood usually smells), if you feel faint or dizzy or there are any other symptoms you would not normally associate with a period then talk to a HV/ GP

I think the new new NHS helpline is 111 - they take calls 24/7

a friend of mine had her first period at 6 weeks with her DS1 and 5 at weeks with her DD, it happens.

Congratulations on baby! Smile Thanks

and periods can get heavier or lighter after birth and also change after a few months as your hormones settle down.
