Waterbirth after an episiotomy and very long labour?

Hello!

Has anyone had a waterbirth in hospital after an episiotomy and very long labour (40hour+)? If so would you mind sharing your experience? Did you tear again?

Also did any of you use hypno-birthing? Was it of any help? How much preparation does it require? Were the MW in the hospital supportive? What books, cd's did you use?

I am 30 weeks pregnant and hoping for a much easier and positive delivery this time around. Im just a bit nervous it could all go wrong again and would love to hear how other ladies managed a similar situation.

Thank you all very much!

Watching with interest as currently 39+1 and hoping for a water birth after a 50 hour labour ending with episiotomy and ventouse last time!

Hi- I don't quite fit your question criteria but I had a 48 hr labour ending with an EMCS with DS and then a vbac at home with a birthing pool and gas and air last Friday. I want allowed to go to the MLU because of my previous CS.

My main fear was that I would have another prolonged labour but instead it was 7 hrs start to finish, with only 2 hrs active labour if which I was pushing for about half an hour. I used hypnobirthing techniques (mongan method) during the prelabour and first 24 hrs with the first but did t bother this time. The contractions were too fast and intense anyway for my level of selfhypnosis to cope. The two labours were totally different and if you were fully dilated the first time round it should go much faster for you this time as well.

I found the first labour utterly harrowing but this time it was delightful in spite of the fact it was much more painful. I feel so much better 5 days post partum than I did first time round.

I don't know if that helps? Good luck in any event and you have every reason to be positive that it will go much more easily.
