Am I being silly?

I'm starting to panic about my decision to attempt a VBAC delivery. I'm 31+2 at the moment, so I have time to change my mind. What is worrying me is the fact that the baby has settled in the exact same position that DS settled into for the whole third trimester - head down, bum sticking out under my right boob, arms and legs pointed towards my left side. When DS tried to exit, his head got stuck with his nose pointed towards my left side and couldn't turn, hence the c section. Am I being silly to think that because this baby is in the same position, the same thing might happen?

I don't think it's silly at all to worry especially when you've been through it once. It's probably better to hope that it's not going to happen, to work towards a VBAC but with the knowledge that it's entirely possible that you'll end up with a CS. Until it happens you're not going to know and sadly no one can tell you otherwise. Keep fingers crossed

No, not silly to worry at all. Have you looked at the foetal position info, to see if there is anything you could try to move the baby into a better position? But as you say, there is plenty of time to think about it. There's nothing wrong if you decide to opt for an elcs instead if you are worried about an emcs again.

Hi,

Just wanted to add I don't think you are silly at all. I had an EMCS with my first for similar reasons to you. I've just opted for an ELCS and one of my reasons was that baby no 2 is in the same position as baby no 1 was. I'm really anxious about the same outcome as before and I think negative thoughts won't help a VBAC.
I feel more in control now I've made my decision. Just my story, don't let me influence you but thought I'd give my view.

Plenty of time to change your mind and think things through. Good luck

Thank you for reassuring me, I've been driving myself nuts going over the pros and cons of each in my mind. I've now got a consultant appointment on 4th november, where I will request an Elcs. I think it comes down to the fact that I'm not a gambler by nature.
