Going into labour before ELCS date?

I have a date for an ELCS in a few weeks when I'll be 39+6. Last DC I was two weeks overdue and induced so it seems unlikely this baby will come before my CS date but now I'm stressing it might!

So I'd be really interested to hear how many people here went into labour before their ELCS date and when, and also if you did, what happened? Did you carry on with the labour or go straight to what I guess would actually be an EMCS?

I'm booked for a ELCS, was told if I went early it would be classed as a EMCS instead.

Does it not depend why your having the elc? If vaginal birth could be risky for you then they will give you the emcs.

I did, they took me in straight away at a stage when most women in early labour would be sent home. I did have to wait, as I required a complex team and it was a Sunday, but otherwise I would have been put on the list and taken as soon as there was a slot and no more urgent emergency. During my second pregnancy, the first time is being referred to as a semi elective.

Dnt worry, i think just contact them as soon as you think younare in labour and i thinkmtheynwould organise it all.

My first DC was 40+5, DC2 was booked in for ELCS at at almost 39 weeks but decided they wanted to come early at 37 weeks. Once I persuaded them I was really was in labour I had an EMCS straight away. It to be a CS to avoid ruining the repairs from DC1!

Thanks all - I'm just interested in the proportion of people who didn't make it to their ELCS date! I'm employing some very non-scientific study to assess the likelihood of it happening to me...
